Nova Scotia Workplace RegulationNova Scotia Safety Regulations are based on the type of workplace and the number of employees in the workplace. Please read through the safety regulations to determine the type of First Aid training and safety equipment required for your workplace. There are a variety of first aid kits recommended for all different size work places.

First Aid  Requirements for Nova Scotia Workplaces

Workplace Type Required Training Required Equipment
Minimum of 1 full-time employee in a workplace where no one available who could administer first aid or summon assistance within a reasonable length of time

1 Emergency First Aider

Minimum of a No. 1 First Aid Kit

Office(Stand-alone, independent)

1 Emergency First Aider/shift

Minimum of a No. 1 First Aid Kit

1-19 workers (non-office). Includes vehicles, boats and aircraft.

1 Emergency First Aider/shift

Minimum of a No. 2 First Aid Kit

20-49 workers (non-office). Includes vehicles, boats and aircraft.

1 Standard First Aider/shift

Minimum of a No. 3 First Aid Kit

50-99 workers (non-office). Includes vehicles, boats and aircraft.

1 Standard First Aider/shift

Minimum of a No. 3 First Aid Kit

Extra supply of dressings, bandages and antiseptics proportionate to the number of employees in excess of 49

100 or more workers (non-office). Includes vehicles, boats and aircraft.

1 Advanced First Aider/shift
